Our services

We provide a focused set of services that all revolve around one clear aim: helping you plan and deliver works on or near Network Rail infrastructure without being derailed by ASPRO approvals, access issues or last-minute surprises.

Depending on where you are in the project lifecycle, you might need one service or several working together. Below, we set out what we do and how each service fits into the ASPRO and third-party works journey.

What We Do

ASPRO interface and liaison

Early feasibility and route engagement

ASPRO submission management

RAMS and construction planning for railway interfaces

Training and upskilling for project teams

Design review and standards alignment

Programme and access planning

Construction phase ASPRO interface

Railway-adjacent risk and compliance advisory

ASPRO interface and liaison

We act as the single point of contact between your project team and ASPRO.

We manage day-to-day communication, coordinate questions and responses, and make sure ASPRO receive clear, consistent information from your designers, contractors and client team. We help set realistic expectations on both sides, so that approvals are not held up by misunderstandings, conflicting messages or missing details.

Early feasibility and route engagement

We review your proposals at concept or early design stage and flag the likely ASPRO implications before you commit to a programme or price.

At this stage, we focus on whether ASPRO involvement is required, what agreements and technical submissions are likely to be needed, and which specific railway risks your project will trigger. We then outline the likely timescales, constraints and dependencies so you can shape your scheme with a realistic view of what working near the railway will involve.

ASPRO submission planning and management

We plan, prepare and manage the submissions that ASPRO will review.

This includes identifying what documentation is required for your specific scheme, setting out a submission schedule, and coordinating inputs from designers, contractors and specialists. We review and quality-check the submission packs so that drawings, calculations, reports and RAMS address the points ASPRO typically look for. We then submit through the appropriate channels and track progress, queries and required resubmissions.

Design review and standards alignment

We review your designs before they are presented to ASPRO, with a focus on railway interface and compliance.

We look at how your design interacts with the operational railway, structures, earthworks, drainage, services, level crossings and boundaries. We highlight where Network Rail standards and guidance are likely to apply and identify gaps that could lead to questions or rejection. Working with your designers, we help close those gaps so that ASPRO receive a more robust proposal first time.

Access, possessions and isolations planning

We help you understand and secure the access you need to deliver the works safely and efficiently.

We advise on the most appropriate type of access for your activities, whether that involves possessions, line blockages, isolations or escorted access. We build the associated lead times and planning cycles into your programme and help you prepare the information and work plans needed to support access requests. Our aim is to align what you want to do on site with what the railway can realistically support.

RAMS and construction planning for railway interfaces

We support the development and review of risk assessments, method statements and construction phase planning where the railway is affected.

We focus on ensuring that construction planning reflects the real risks of working on or near the railway, including plant proximity, collapse radius, ground movement, boundary security, traffic management and emergency arrangements. We help uplift generic documents into railway-specific RAMS that ASPRO and Network Rail are more likely to accept without extensive rework.

Construction phase ASPRO interface

We stay involved through construction where ASPRO engagement continues or where changes affect the railway interface.

We help manage the impact of design changes, method changes or programme shifts on approvals and access. We coordinate updates to ASPRO, support the agreement of variations where needed, and help maintain compliance with agreed methods. Our focus is on keeping works progressing on site while protecting the operational railway and the approvals already in place.

Railway-adjacent risk and compliance advisory

We provide targeted advice on the specific risks and constraints that come with working next to the railway.

This can include ground movement and monitoring, drainage and runoff towards the railway, piling and vibration, crane and plant positioning, boundary treatments, level crossing impacts and interface with railway communications and power. We work with your team to identify which risks are relevant to your scheme and what mitigations ASPRO are likely to expect.

Training and upskilling for project teams

We offer tailored briefings and workshops to help your team understand what it really means to work on or near the railway.

Sessions can cover ASPRO roles and processes, typical documentation requirements, access and possession planning fundamentals, and the key technical risks that often catch third-party projects out. The aim is to reduce the learning curve, so your team can engage more confidently and effectively with ASPRO from the outset.

Which service do we need?

If you are unsure which of these services applies to your scheme, we can review your current position and suggest a sensible starting point. For some clients that might be a short feasibility and ASPRO strategy review; for others it may be immediate support with a live submission, access planning or construction-phase liaison.

Next steps

To find out how these services could apply to your project, you can send us your scheme details or book an initial call. We will outline the likely ASPRO involvement, the key risks to your programme, and where we can add the most value.
